North Hollywood Speedometer Repair

I have handled Porsche service since 2008. And since then I have sent ALL my clients gauges to North Hollywood Speedo. From 356 gauge rebuilds to fixing speedometers on 993s. We have now sent a few gauges off of cars for the Porsche restoration challenge, and North Hollywood Speedo does not disappoint. Always on time, always professional, and always cost effective. The first time I dealt with Hollywood Speedometer was in the late 60's when I lived in the LA Area and they restored the gauges in my '58 Speedster. Because of their excellent work, They were the only place I considered when I had instruments restored and altered for a couple of modified VW's. In the 70's, after I had purchased a 911 and moved to Reno, I used their services again for the different gauges I was adapting to it. Although I did not use Hollywood Speedometer for decades after this, I referred many people to them. Then, in the Summer of 2023, I imported a highly tuned VW Jetta Mk1 from Germany into Mexico and drove it to my home in Guadalajara. I wanted to install a gauge cluster from a Golf Mk2 Diesel but with a tachometer and fuel gauge from a Golf Mk2 G60, I also wanted to add a VDO oil pressure gauge, change the cluster lighting and replace the electrical plug from a Male/Female type to the later pin type. The printed circuit board also needed to be modified. Hollywood Speedometer was the only shop I considered to do this work and to make sure everything was understood, I hand delivered the two instrument clusters to them along with verbal instructions. I was quoted a price and a 2-3 week turn-around time. The job was finished in less than a week. As I expected, the work was perfect and I'm very happy. I highly recommend Hollywood Speedometer.

Sent my mechanical VDO speedometer to them to have it recalibrated from MPH to KMH. In addition they also changed the trip meter to read in KMH’s as well as a new speedo face in KMH’s. Gauges work great , they did a first class job. I highly recommend them without hesitation.

NHS got my 944S to cluster in pretty pristine factory shape. I just wanted a color change along with different speed read out and numbers. What I got back was something that literally looks like it came from the factory like this, I was actually pretty amazed at the quality. That was 12 years ago and the gauges are still working wonderfully, and always get comments from people that car shows. When I brought the car in to my mechanic he literally said “ wow who did these gauges”. I’m about to send them my Crossfire gauges for similar treatment, they are the best in the business hands-down.

What an exceptional experience! Sent speedometer from my 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 to North Hollywood Speedometer (NHS) based on array of outstanding recommendations from very satisfied customers. Quick ship, arrived in two days, John at NHS called to inform speedometer had arrived, told me what needed to be repaired, two days later received call informing me odometer repaired and on its way back to me. Sent all Gauges to include clock from a 1961 Porsche 356B for restoration and conversion to 12 volts. Total perfection. They converted tach to 8,000rpm and speedometer to 160mph. They even placed all my number tags back as original for the proper wire locations. You don't need to consider anyone else for your gauge restoration needs. They are absolutely the best.

The odometer on my 86 Carrera stopped working. I shipped it to NHS on a Thursday and John called me on Monday to confirm the repairs. The next day Tuesday they called me and it was completed and ready to return to me. I received it back exactly one week from when I sent it to them!
